      Emulator: Emulationstation/mame2003

      Hi all,

Have run into a small problem with my Pi. Standard retropie build with the image above, updated Retropie setup script per the guide above. Set up the auto-mount folder on the drive, plugged in, folders created, transfered roms from pc to folder (arcade for mame), plugged drive back into Pi.

Everything running fine, roms are working from the drive, no issues. However, when I turn the Pi off, then on again, Emulation station only shows me the "Configuration" option. I have to go into the Main Menu, and Restart Emulationstation - as soon as I do that then my Arcade folder (with the games) and Collections are shown, and all work.

Any ideas? I'm thinking that the drive isn't initializing fast enough for Emulationstation to recognise it?

@sinibomb Sounds like the same problem mentioned here (with possible solution at the bottom): https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/15743/running-roms-from-external-drive-exfat/20

@sinibomb you dont have enough power to boot the hard drive fast enough. I had this issue with a 1tb hard drive. You need either a powered usb hub or a better power supply for the pi. The powered usb hub is guaranteed to work. It is how i do it.

@sinibomb also you will get the games to have less lag once the hard drive has enough power.

                Thanks both.

Have added a 5 second delay, and it works now.

Will look at adding a powered hub.
