      Hello everyone!

I've got everything set up really well on my Retropie project (latest image on a Retropie 3), between the official docs and the help of the community here it's been a breeze (mostly!). But there is one thing that eludes me and drives me mad! For the life of me, I can't get game-specific option files to load for lr-fbalpha

Typically I set 3x Punch in a street fighter game to a specific button (via the options menus in the GUI while in game. Click on the name of the game at the top, it saves correctly. I can see the game-options file (.opt) created in the \retropie\configs\all\retroarch\config\FB Alpha folder. If I look at it in Notepad, I can see that my changes are saved.

But when I boot the game, that doesn't seem to load and I have to re-set these options every time. Everything else (video options, game-specific controller remappings) works fine. Driving me nuts!

My fbalpha roms are in the Arcade folder. I tried copying the .opt files over to the \retropie\configs\all\retroarch\config\Arcade folder as well, still no dice.

In the FB Alpha.cfg, game_specific_options is set to "true".

      What am I doing wrong?

Come to think of it, hi-scores are also not loading despite having a hiscore.dat file in my bios folder

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance for your time

@ponchogreg Are you using the Save Game Remap File option in the RGUI to save your input re-mapping ?
For the hiscore support, I think lr-fbalpha reads them from BIOS/fba, but it should already be there from a normal install. There was an issue some time ago with hiscore support, I'd advise to update lr-fbalpha from source (might take some time) and re-try.

Cheers mate - will try both!

I'm pretty sure I always do "save game remap file", and also thought these two binding options would be saved in a different file (the .opt file) since they are in a separate menu. Will try regardless!

per game .opt files will only load if game_specific_options is true. see https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Playstation-1#multitap-3-8-player for an example

Tried everything, still not working... Despite making sure game_specific_options is true for both fba and arcade configs. I never see a message related to that when booting a game with an opt file (unlike remaps, etc), so it looks like it just doesn't attempt to load these... Very strange.

@ponchogreg You can try and enable verbose logging in RetroArch, then start the game and post the /dev/shm/runcommand.log on a site like pastebin.com to take a look at it. I'm not sure if this will work for fba, but for the libretro based emulators (lr-fbalpha, lr-mame2003), you should get some results.
