Generic USB SNES Controller Not Working
-
Hello,
I built my raspberry pi set up last night using a raspberry pi zero NO WIFI transferred all my games onto it using a USB stick and using a PS4 Controller for setup but when I plug my Generic USB SNES Controllers i got off eBay in nothing happens these work on my PC running windows 10 without installing any drivers. When using them on retroarch the driver that pops up when a rom is loading is Retrolink_(S)NES_USB I have found the config file in the retroarch folders and the config file says input_driver = "xinput"
input_device = "Retrolink classic (S)NES USB" but on the raspberry pie in retoarch setting I do not have this driver.How can I get this working I have bought 2 retropies and four of these controllers because I have seen people use generic USB controllers on youtube without any issues and after searching all night last night I couldn't find anything that could guide me to resolve this issue. I cannot connect my pi to wifi to perform any updates to see if that would help. I cannot get any keyboard I own to work either so I cannot input any code in the main screen to see if my pie is even registering the generic USB SNES controller
I downloaded the retropie image last night from here and extracted it using 7zip and used win32diskimager to put it on my SD card. I am new to Linux based systems the internet just makes everything look so easy so you want to do it as well but it is never as easy as it seems lol. I can use windows and never touched a mac before. I prefer taking things apart and fixing hardware this software stuff is long and confusing.
Thank you for any help in advance
Kind regards,
Ben

@iammoansss The
xinput
driver is windows specific, so I assume when you're talking about RetroArch you mean you've tested it on Windows. It's going to be hard to diagnose things without a keyboard/network, but why doesn't your keyboard work ? Are you connecting the devices directly or through an USB hub/similar ? -

Don't Know why my keyboards are not working I'm connecting everything though a OTG hub as the pi zero only has 2 micro USB sockets. Everything else is working USB flasdrive PS4 controller tried them in every port and they are fine just not my basic dell keyboard and generic usb snes controllers.
I also connected my iPhone to the pi to try a tether the internet (read somewhere you can do that) but nothing happened just charged my iPhone lol
I have ordered a new Raspberry pi zero W and a USB WIFI dongle for my current zero. To see updating everything would work but it is a brand new version of retropie download last night 24.01.18 :S

I have a raspberry pi zero w but I have 4 snes usb controllers and a zero delay usb encoder not working. I have tried an old 3rd party usb xbox 360 controller works with no issues.
please have a look at what results I am getting on ssh. looks like the snes style controllers is not even being recognized by the pi :S I have updated and upgraded this is a brand new image of retropie 4.3 any help would be appreciated thanks :)

They are getting 4.5-4.6v when plugged into the hub. When connected directly it gets 4.7v I did solder two USB leads on after one for power one for signal. Plugged the power to the pc and signal to the pi got nothing even though it was getting 5v I'm lost with this. Just don't understand why some controllers work and some don't.
