Can’t save on raspberry pie 3 model b
-
I’ve tried to save on my retropie multiple times by using the method provided - right trigger and select - but no matter what system, it doesn’t show the message that it has saved. I thought that maybe it just was showing it so I tried to load a state and nothing happened. My SD card is 32g so it’s not the storage. Can someone please help?

right trigger and select
It's select and right trigger. Order matters. Or a different button if you mapped the hotkey to something other than select.

@herb_fargus Thanks for the help, but I just tried it and it didn’t work. I remapped the buttons and tried again but nothing.
-
@jacobevans20 if it isn't a retroarch emulator it won't work.
-
@jacobevans20 what controller are you using? What emmulator are you using? Did it work for you at some point and then stop or did it never work? Is it giving an error message in the corner of your screen or does it just appear to do nothing?
-
@herb_fargus No it’s not a retro arch sumulator :(

@quicksilver I’m using a PS4 controller and I even tried another one that I have without luck. I am using retropie and the default emulators for each system. I have tried on all the systems with the Sam outcome, it has never worked for me and there is no error message, it just appears to do nothing. I’ve even tried reinstalling retropie on another 32g drive but I still received the same outcome.

@jacobevans20 Can you please be more specific which game and emulator are you using ?
Note that the shortcut is actuallyHotkey + R1
, if you mapped theHotkey
to a specific button and didn't leave it asSelect
, usingSelect + R1
will not invoke theSave State
function - see https://retropie.org.uk/docs/RetroArch-Configuration/#hotkeys.
As @herb_fargus pointed out, this shortcut only works in RetroArch based emulators (ones that start withlr-
), so it's normal that it doesn't work in other non-lr emulators. -
@mitu Thanks so much for that information. Could you please show me how to tell whether a emulator is retro arch or not. I’m not very informed in that way. Also, if it turns out that they are not retroarch, what other ways are there to save without a different emulator? Thank you for your help!

@jacobevans20 When you start your game, the runcommand splashscreen should show it. Or press
Select + X
and the RetroArch menu should open up and show the emulator used at the bottom of the screen. -
@mitu Thanks so much! Everything is working now!
