      Just a quick question: Is there any way to apply a cheat to a game without having to go through the Retroarch menu every time? Some command line option or config file setting perhaps? This would be really useful for playing the protected PSX games pcsx-rearmed can't run without a cheat code.

        Saving a state after using the code and loading that state when starting the game makes the process a bit faster. Would it be possible to tell Retroach to automatically load a save state file when starting a game? I can't find anything useful in retroarch --help.

          @mitaholo You could configure RetroArch to auto-save on exit and auto-load on start. I think the options for the retroarch.cfg are

          savestate_auto_save = true
          savestate_auto_load = true

            Thanks! I created a savestate after the modchip check, changed it's file name to romname.state.auto and then added savestate_auto_load = true to a rom-specific config file romname.cue.cfg. Works beautifully.

              Can you elaborate on how you achieved this? I want to do the same thing so that a game loads up with the cheats already on.

              How did you change a savestate name? Where is the ROM-specific config you spoke of? In the CFG file you created, was "savestate_auto_load = true" the only line in that file?

              Thank you.

                I tried to follow your steps and it does load the savestate automatically....BUT it does not keep the cheat I had set up at the time I saved it.

                Any help is appreciated!

                  Now I have it to a point where when I start the game it loads the savestate including the cheat....I can actually see it....but when I hit "1" to start the game, it reverts back to the standard settings. I feel like I am SO close!!

                  The game is Burgertime. The cheat is "infinite pepper". When I load the game, I see the pepper counter is at 99 (the max), but when I start the game, it is back at 5.

                  I hope I can get this figured out!

                    @mitaholo Three years later and still....nothing. So disappointing that you needed help and someone helped you....but once you had the answer you weren't willing to share it with others having the same problem.
