I recently decided to create a retropie using my raspberry pi 3 and on the second or third boot up (once my roms and drivers are installed) Node xxxxxxxxx contains garbage clear, yes? continues indefinitely and i have left my raspberry pi for multiple hours for it just to continue. i have found an old thread about this issue but no one had a solution

For anyone else that is having this issue i have discovered the solution.
install retropie 4.0 rather than 4.3 and simply update the setup software from on the pi rather than when mounting the micro sd card.
