Using a Edimax EW-7811Un dongle with my Raspberry Pi...
-
I have found several post about using this dongle with Raspberry Pis, but not specifically with Retropie. I bought it because the on-board wifi was sucking bad. It kept cutting out and being very unstable, even after turning off the wifi power management. I plugged this dongle in and, so far, the wifi connection seems to be stable. It also asigned a new IP address, which is an indication that something in the wifi configuration changed or rebooted. However, I want to make sure that Retropie is using my new dongle for the Wifi connection. Is there any way to confirm this? I have confirmed that the system recognizes the device, but I want to make sure that the Edimax is my default Wifi adapter now. Any ideas?

@kevinshope You could disable the onboard Wifi from the
rpi-config
utility, reboot and then re-configure to make sure that it's the Wifi dongle that's getting used all the time.
