@ejclassic you're running different versions of mame2010 in those two screenshots. if you updated mame2010 in your jessie build, i think you'd see the same thing. the stretch image presumably has the latest, or close-to-latest version of mame2010.
-
@dankcushions Nope, the jessie version of mame2010 is current. They are both the current versions unless the RetroPie Setup Menu is not installing the newest one.
-
@ejclassic you can see the version numbers are different by looking at the commit hash in the screenshots (233fc33 vs 1f6e65a). a retropie update via binary should get the same version, but maybe stretch image has a later version. in any case, you can guarantee getting the absolute latest version by updating the package via source, but this will take 1hr+.

The n64 Emulator Mupen64Plus (it’s the 5th one down, the main one, the only one that any good, under rice) is not working right, 1st time you play a game it works then, The same game will then not work again at all, even if you uninstall and then reinstall and so on. All games work 1st time and then they stop and just go back to the main screen
-
You mean the main config file, I be thinking in the boot folder, it’s becasue the user is root so it will not upload, you have to put the sd card in your pc as it’s the only part that your pc will see, you then need to edit it with notepad ++ only or you mess it up
-
I'm seeing a similar issue when changing the video mode on the runcommand screen for N64 emulators. The ROM will not play again - it might even be the same scenario as yours, I can't remember if I actually tried a game more than once.
I'll try again when I get the chance and see if there's anything logged.
-
@j2001m yes that's correct the main config file in the boot folder. I didn't have this problem with an earlier version of retropie but thanks that worked great. I needed to rotate the screen so I wanted to change the config file
-
@dankcushions I installed from source and I did indeed receive a newer version of mame2010 that restored the remap controls functionality. Thanks!
-
I know mine is probably a niche case, but I have just tested the stretch image on a Pi3B+ and mkarcadejoystick appears to be working fine in both raw gpio configuration and via an MCP23017.
-
@simonster my 2 MK Tournament Sticks run also directly connected via USB.
-
@tash
Also drew had the same problem in a live video
See drew talks YouTube channel, where he tries to over lock it also with problems as you have to press a key on the keyboard on boot, no joke
If any admins need to see the problem live.
I be thinking all the problems linked to this is there is no install from source ( give an error anyways saying no file on download website)
-
@j2001m read the forum rules.
-
@herb_fargus
I removed the YouTube video, but things like that do not help get things fixed -
@j2001m It's the not the video that's the problem, but the fact that you're using a 3rd party image, which is not supported here. If you'd like to test things out, then use the RetroPie provided image, the link is in the 1st post of this topic.
-
@j2001m there's no need to press a key in the keyboard to boot. you would need to give steps to reproduce from the fresh image.
-
This was after it was over locked only
-
@j2001m well, if you can reproduce a problem with the official image we will look into it. We don't support 3rd party images.
-
Hi
I can comfirm that both problems are the same on your above image posted on this site
I.e. n64 games will only run 1 time
And you have to press a key at boot when overclocked to get it to startThey used your base image to get there images and they only added things into the retro pi menu and not recoded your os I.e. like easy remove unused images and keeping the game list to the only used file types and so on I.e. no core code changes
-
@j2001m Pressing a key at boot might be a Raspbian Stretch issue. if they have put a confirmation or something in, then it will be present in our system. I will check.
I will look into the n64 issue.
I don't care if they use our base image - they also ship our software with copyrighted games and make changes that we don't know about. Discussion of 3rd party images is not welcome here.
