      Hey guys,

      I just started messing around with Mame and found this forum while searching for something; nice place!

      I have ran into a small problem while playing Metal Slug (the original one), where my high scores aren't saving upon exit. I understand that some cabinets saved only to memory and Mame replicates this for authenticity, but I am sure there is a way to bypass it. I did try with highscore.dat but it still isn't saving.

      Has anyone managed to get this to work?

      Thanks a lot!

      Edit: I am using Mame version 0.194 with MameUI64.

        @thegatekeeper This is a RetroPie forum, used for support and help/ideas, but it's not a general purpose emulation forum. While some forum members might have experience with Mame, I'd suggest asking this question in the Mame forums.
        Having said that, Neogeo games, like Metal Slug, are played in RetroPie with FBAlpha - have you tried using FBAlpha instead of Mame ?

          @thegatekeeper / @mitu

          Also note that there IS a bug with the latest lr-fbalpha that directly relates to not saving and loading hi scores. You have to update lr-fbalpha from sources not from binaries as the bug has been fixed in the latest code. But the binaries have not been updated since. Not necessarily the issue you are having, but its a good idea regardless.

          RPSetup -> Manage Packages -> Manage Main Packages -> lr-fbalpha (Installed) -> Update from source

          RP 4.7.1 • Pi4 4Gig • CanaKit Aluminum • 64GB microSD • 1920x1080 BarTop [2 Sanwa sticks]

            @alturis I don't think the poster is using RetroPie. I was suggesting to use FBAlpha directly (not the libretro core, lr-fbalpha, which had the bug).

              Just in case someone stumbles upon this thread while searching, I was able to fix the issue by clearing out my "Nvram" folder. Apparently it had some corrupt data in it.
