I was looking through this list of "must have" classic arcade games and see that 1942 is at number 21. I have had that game in my collection in the past but I found that the annoying "music" with the military whistle is just too much to take.

Has anyone else found the same thing? I was wondering if there might be a way to modify the game to not have that annoying part to it.

My main opinion is that it's a shame that 1942 didn't end up at either spot 19 or spot 42.

But yeah, pretty annoying music. Perhaps changing it with a piano version would be a cool idea.

Well I am trying to keep my game collection trimmed down to more of a sampling of all of the classics. I may just keep it limited to 1943 as the gameplay is very much the same and 1943 looks and sounds more pleasant to our modern ears.

Check 1941 for the SuperGrafx, one of the 6 only games released for the console. Gameplay is updated with charged shots, but same in essence. You will love the music, it’s got that distinctive TurboGrafx flavour with bright chip tunes.
