Cannot configure controller on first boot

There is an "OK" button at the bottom of the configure menu but how do I click it? Mouse doesnt move, controller doesnt go up or down and keyboard doesnt do anything (tried hitting down arrow, enter, escape, tab, ect. ) only thing that seems to work on the keyboard is F4

Its asking for "Left Trigger" i press any button and it says "Already Taken"

@phox Seriously ? It says on the top Hold a button to skip:

Just keep A pressed and it will go on to the next button, until you get to the end.

It didnt say that on screen for some reason, rebooted and was able to get passed it. Wasn't holding it long enough I guess. Thanks

But, there seems to be an issue for some (me) when reaching the Ok screen.

Yes, I read "Follow the onscreen instructions to configure your gamepad- if you run out of buttons just hold down a button to skip each unused button. When you get to OK press the button you have configured as "A"."
But, pressing the button assigned to "A" does nothing???
Pressing the button assigned to "A" doesn't activate the "OK" button on the screen.
I had to unplug and repower it up, then Retropie won't reboot?
I think some of us having the problem may be using the Zero Delay Encoders and there my be some conflict.
I've ordered the powerblock which I am assuming works flawlessly (since it was made for Raspberry) with Retropie.
I'll let you know....

@kaptainsteve after you pressed the button you configured as A how long did you wait? (It does some processing in the background - on a rpi zero or 1 and with a slow sd card, it may take some time.)

@kaptainsteve oh - I thought you were the original poster. You need to start a new topic when you have an issue as your configuration will be different and we need your info.

Therefore, getting any kind of log is not possible.
This person seems to have the exact same issue I'm having so I didn't think it would hurt to jump on the thread.

I'm trying again today, with a new Retropie, and I'm repeating the same issue. I'm taking your advice and being very patient a giving it plenty of time...

Yes,,, I think it's doing something.... I got a black screen now.... I'm being patient... it's not doing anything except being a black screen for a few minutes....

SUCCESS! I hit the "b" button and Retropie is there.
