Spyro Remastered Trilogy

screams
It's official. The original Spyro trilogy is getting remastered for the PS4 & XBONE.
-
I cannot wait for this! This was one of my favorite series on the Playstation 1.
-
Not quite as excited as I was for N'Sane trilogy but will be picking this up for sure

Insomniac Games did an amazing job on the original Spyro the Dragon trilogy for the PS1! I also loved their Ratchet & Clank games! I can't wait to see what they do for the upcoming Spider-Man game in September!

@lilbud but dolphin/beetle pcsx remasters the original for me!
- A remaster is different than upscaling noob!
Looks better to me which to me is a remaster!
Looks interesting anyways

32-bit 3D graphics have aged really, really badly. While 2D games can look fine with shaders that simulate a CRT screen, polygonal titles look dated no matter the rendering resolution or texture enhancements.
While gameplay remains virtually unchanged since the emerge of analogue controls, the visuals have had an amazing ongoing progress since the 6th generation of game consoles.
Just like the Crash Bandicoot Trilogy, I'm very happy to see Spyro getting a remake treatment! It's the perfect time to bring back the 32-bit classics (though I'm still not 100% OK with the 32-bit era being considered retro)!

@matchaman I will say this about 3D titles though: I found that while playing Final Fantasy VII, the first few moments can be a bit jarring, but once I'm running around and gaining XP, I'm no longer bothered by the blocky polygons and low-res textures. If anything, the grittier graphics actually works surprisingly well for darker-themed games like Silent Hill and Resident Evil.

@eldrethor I've never really stopped playing PS1 games, so to me they haven't aged badly at all. I do always enable scanlines and smoothing..that way most 3D games look just fine to me. But I do agree it would take some getting used to if you're coming from modern games.
Personally I don't really care for remakes. I much rather play a game made by the original artists. Some games even feel like 'fan remakes' to me, like for example Abe's oddysee New n Tasty .
I play the Crash trilogy in enhanced resolution, which makes them look beautiful! I've never played Spyro so I don't know how well that game fares on enhanced resolution. -
@bobharris I played Spyro 1 on my PC, I bumped the scaling res up to 2x and 3d models up 3x. Looks really nice

Even if the polygons don't bring tears to my eyes, the Aeris story line will every time.
