Multitap works for some games but not for others, Secret of Mana, Looney Tunes B-Ball
-
I got the multi tap working for NBA jam, super bomberman 3/4 and WWF RAW
But for Secret of Mana, Looney Tunes B-ball, and NBA Jam TE it's not working.
For NBA JAM TE to not work is kinda strange to me since NBA JAM and NBA JAM TE are essentially the same game.
I'll have to double check but I don't think any other controller besides player 1 works. In Secret of Mana the 2nd player controller controls player 2 & 3
In Looney Tunes B-Ball the multitap is not recognized at all, but players 1 & 2 work, But I did read up that the game starts up before the controllers are initiated so the game doesn't see it until you restart it.
I'll try this tonight for B-ball but I don't know what to do about Secret of Mana or JAM TE

@maskedsquirrels there is a thread on this already..as soon as i have time I'll link it. But two things I can suggest:
check the settings are correct and saved in the controls menu of retroarch..make sure user device type 2 is set to mulitap back out and save the config...quit the game..then reload it.
JBA jam works fine on my end I am using the snes9x 2010 core
As for SoM you may have to use a different core on that..(instead of the snes9x core) another user had the same problem...I don't have a save game to test it out with though...
And as for Loony Tunes B-Ball..I have the same problem with that..bug?

I did see the other thread but it was several months old and the site suggested I make a new thread instead of replying. Sorry about that.

@Maskedsquirrels Seems like an issue similar to https://github.com/libretro/snes9x2010/issues/63
What is weird is that there are entries for SoM at lines 2961-2963 of https://github.com/libretro/snes9x2010/blob/master/src/memmap.c
Is your rom an unofficial hack/translation ? Or the official french or german localization ?I suggest you open a new issue on github.

I think I just fried the sound card and damaged the video card too. I was playing around with a USB battery pack I had laying around and connected it to my pie to see if it would boot up. It did. but It screwed up the things I already mentioned. I think I'm going to make a new thread about it since I can't find anyone who has had anything like that happen to them. The crazy part is that I swapped the SD card to another pi and it is now doing the same thing even with another build on a different SD card. I think I created a virus! :(
-
Before both my Pi's died I was able to get b-ball to work just let all the controllers be recognized, set player 2 to multitap like all the tutorials say and reset the game via the reset hotkey.

Never mind, Don't know why it happened at the same moment I used the Battery but the HDMI cable went bad on me. I switched it out and all is well.
I'm pretty sure SOM is the USA version.

Ok back to the original problem. The SOM version I have is Secret of Mana (USA) [En by FuSoYa v1.0] (Variable Width Font Edition).sfc according to the file name.
It still links player 2 and 3 together.

It is likely that this hack change something in the headers of the rom, resulting in snes9x not recognizing the rom and not applying the right settings to enable multitap. You should try with an official usa or pal rom to make sure.
