Zero Delay USB Encoder and potentiometers

Hi everyone, I want to add a potentiometer (one like this https://www.robotstore.it/images/products/potenziometro_lineare_10kohm.jpg) for a personal use, since I'm a big big fan of driving simulator I'm thinking of using this also for these games and not just for retrogaming.

Now, straight to the point, I'm a complete noob at soldering and similar, that's why I decided to use this encoder for normal buttons. But the pot has 3 pins, there is a way to connect it to the encoder? Where should I connect the third pin? Thx in advance

Unless yours is different to those I have seen, I think you will find that your Zero Delay USB encoder is digital only, so connecting a potentiometer to it would only give an or or off signal. You would probably do a lot better buying a USB steering wheel. Have a look here for advice on configuring one first though.

Got it, for example this (https://www.arcadeworlduk.com/products/a-pac-analog-digital-dual-gamepad-interface.html) should work since it provides digital and analog input.
Are there other usb encoders that provides both inputs?
Anyway I need the potentiometer for a working clutch paddle

Another question, I will use the encoder for the retrogaming, and I want to add a microswitch. Can I use a female-female 2-pin jumper wire instead of the provided cable? I'm asking because the switch I have has this pins, like a jumper wire

@the-walker You can use anything that conducts electricity. I would not recommend taping spoons to your switch, but it would work if you could keep them in contact with your pins!

I used spade-style crimp connectors on my microswitches and crimped them to both ends of CAT5 network wires which were easy to distinguish from one another due to the orange, white, green, blue, brown. This also kept everything nice and neat while allowing custom lengths.
