What default emulators does retropie use?
-
I noticed for example that there were 3 different SNES emulators installed as default. Which one does Retropie use as default and how do I tell for each system what is the default emulator?
-
@drittz78 When you start a ROM, you can press a button - as the Runcommand tells you - and you can see which emulators are available for that system. You can see which one is the default and you can change the default on the same screen.
I think RetroPie image comes withlr-snes2010
as a default emulator (https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Super-Nintendo-Entertainment-System/), but you can optionally installlr-snes9x
orlr-snes2005

Thanks for the info. I was struggling to find out what the default emulators were for each system.

@drittz78 It's not in the docs because they change from time to time.
Also, some people find the non-default emus work better for them. Be it real or imagined.
RetroPie usually chooses the best emu as a default for each system, but that is not always the case.
Use theruncommand
menu as advised and find what works best for you. **There will always be ROMs that just run better under a different emu. That's the nature of emulation. Just find what works for you.

There are also different defaults depending on the platform you're running it on.
