MAME and scanline configuration

In my previous RetroPie setup I remember vaguely that I had put cfg files created by a member of the forum that controlled the scanlines (and maybe the orientation) depending on the original resolution of MAME (and probably FBA) titles.

I cannot remember who is the member, how do we install them, where do we install them...

Sorry for the lack of info...but that's all I can recall
