Re: Gamepadblock Issue: Not detecting "Start" Button on Mega Drive controllers

Hi there. I have a set up identical to the poster in the post referenced. I have a different issue though. When configuring in retropie it sees both player one and player 2 controllers as the same input (Controller 1). I am unable to use both at the same time as they are seen as the same controller.

Is this a retropie issue that i am missing or is there some setting i am missing for Gamepadblock. Im using two 3-button genesis pads and all inputs are recognized. I tested on my pc and player one and 2 controllers are recognized as separate.

Thanks in advance for any help.

@heed You could install @meleu's script joystick-selection. It can assign controllers to players by their usb port.

@clyde Thanks for the tip. Not sure it will work as the gamepabock has just the one USB connector so the 2 co trials come through the same USB. I will give it a try and see though

@heed The script also has a mode to recognise controllers by name, but that also may not work with identical controllers with the same name. However, at least you can exclude it as a solution if it doesn't work.

Maybe you did not install the USB HID quirks for Raspbian? It is a known issue with the older Linux kernels and is described here in the section "Installing USB HID Quirks for the GamepadBlock" at https://blog.petrockblock.com/2017/10/10/tutorial-gamepadblock-raspbian/.
