Joypad not configured

I keep having this error message, Joypad works fine on the main menu but no in any of the games. It actually worked in the games before but I had a minor problem I had to solve so I erased the Retroarch joypad folder but when I put it back I had now this problem. I've searched for countless hours for a fix on threads but none worked
