Either Retropie or Kodi or Moonlight is really messing with my controller
-
Hello! I am really at a loss at the moment
This is my setup:- RasPi 2, 32GB sd card
- Retropie 4.14.34
- Kodi 17.6 (From optional Packages)
- Moonlight-Embedded 2.4.6 (TechWiz Script with stretch)
- Original MS XBOX 360 Wireless Controller
- Hifiberry DAC+ Pro on GPIO
First: is this setup known to have bugs? I searched and only found that most of the problems where related to older Versions of any of this tools and should have been fixed.
My Problem:
Using a fresh install of Retropie everything is fine. The controller is recognized and usable. Installing Kodi an i had to reinstall the drivers on Retropie via retropie-setup, because the system suddenly got ghost inputs. After that the problems where gone. Than i installed Moonlight(TechWiz-Script and adding extra stretch version). Which actually cannot stream the default Big Picture, just falls back to Port when starting. But than, when i started kodi, it got locked up in the "Choose Emulator"(i dont know why it does that) script jumping in the menues back and forth from ghost inputs again. I managed the reinstall Kodi over an SSH-Connection. But after rebooting, the controller setup showed up, but i couldn't config any button. The controller works flawlessly on Steam link, so this is not an issue.
Why does installing Kodi and/or Moonlight break the controller drivers? How can i avoid that? I did try a fresh install, but again it messes with my controller.
I would love to get that working Retropi is one awesome Tool. Any directions/Ideas are welcome. -
@zottelmann the ghost inputs could be a power issue if you dont have enough power to support everything you have hooked up plus wifi and bluetooth. Xbox controllers and dongles that are plugged in can be power hungry too

@edmaul69 actually i ruled that possibility out, but it seems your guess was partly correct. My RPi2 only need 2A, but i forgot that DAC+ sitting on the PI. So when i removed it i no longer had the issue of ghost input. So thanks for that! I still have some controller issues regarding moonlight, but this is maybe the wrong place to solve them.
Thank you again
