RetroRoom Theme!
-
Working on a new theme, with a big nod to @Nismo 's theme, Old Room. I decided I wanted a theme similar to this in nature where the tv and room changes based on the console you're viewing, but with some touches of my own.
So far this is a WIP, and I am working out the kinks, tweaking images, fonts etc. and setting it up as a 'template' so I can build the other systems much faster. Here is what I have so far.

I will post here periodically as I update the theme!

@dra6n Hahaha, that's cute. Keep goin'!
-
@dra6n Looks interesting. I'm having a bit of trouble reading the black text on the light white backgrounds though.
-
@mattrixk Yes I agree. It looks awesome but that white background needs to be around 80-90% opaque.

Yeah, I was trying to find a happy medium. I'll try and make it less transparent. All else fails I will toss up some sort of BG image to go behind the text.

@capninja thanks! I plan to hit the major consoles at a bare minimum. Atari(s), NES, SNES, Sega, N64, PSX, Gameboy, GBC, GBA and then start to fill in the odds and ends.

WIP preview of the SNES screen

@dra6n Either Luigi on the NES screen or the Red Ranger on the SNES screen should be an Optimus Prime dammit!
Hehe looks great so far! :)
-
@dra6n: This is just an idea, but you have a pretty big wall space on the right. You could move the window to the right, remove the shelf and make the poster larger, then use the larger poster as a background for the gamelist.
-
@classicgmr was there a transformers game on NES/SNES? hmmm I'll have to check!
-
@mattrixk I thought about it, but having a mix of colors in the poster might make the text on the game list hard to read. I'll play around with it and see how it looks. I think for Mega Drive/ Genasis I'll remove the window or make it barely there, and play around with the wall space a bit more. ES is kinda weird in which if I set it to put the games list in 1 location , it uses that same location on every system.. unless I re-wrote the master XML file and set individual parameters for each.. not even sure if that would work...hmmm
-
oh and here's a re-lighted NES screen, displaying an old school nintendo commercial.
-
@dra6n Well it's an 80's/early 90's toyline that was very popular so there's that. 😉
But yes in Japan they had a Famicom Transformers game - The Transformers: Mystery of Convoy:
The SNES / Super Famicom didn't have a Transformers release that I could find.
-
@classicgmr hmm fair enough :)
-
working on the Gameboy screens now. Decided to go with the "open on Christmas day" kinda feel.
-
gameboy screens done, changed the fonts around a little to make them easier to read. haven't decided on a good font just yet.

@dra6n coming along nicely 🙂

Awesome theme!
I have a question. In your gamelist, it seems to be ignoring "the" in the game title, is that something new they added or something you did on your end? I haven't turned my Pi on in a while, so I wasn't sure. Thanks.
-
@cylum It goes off the no-intro naming convention. Whatever the scraper picks up based on that, is how it is displayed. shrug

Added GBC!
