image unit of measurement

I am having an issue trying to get a particular image to line up with a theme I am building.
what is the unit of measurement ES uses?
right now I have it set as:

<size>0 0.502</size> ....but I know it isn't pixels or inches.. any ideas?

@dra6n It's percents. from 0 to one. You can make a photoshop document and add a 100x100 grid.

Just digging this thread up to add that I made a little web-based tool to help calculate these "normalized numbers":

You put your theme's target resolution in the first two boxes, e.g. 1920 and 1080, then in the second two you put the x and y in actual pixels of the point you want to know. Then when you press the "Calculate" button it will give you the normalized numbers.
