@stuart2773 Great new overlays !!
Are you making also the related cfg files ? -
yes i have the cfg files for them
-
@stuart2773 Then I'd suggest you to place them in a github repo and ask @meleu to add your repo to his install script.
-
will do soon:)
-
@Stuart2773 or @UDb23 - Will these 16:9's work for running on 1080 without spilling over or clipping the game area? Basically what you've been doing with yours UDb?
-
@riverstorm I haven't actually installed these so far so I can't tell. Little time to dedicate to Retropie over the last months.
Still multiple bezels and marquees in the works... ;-)
Hope to finalize & publish these soon. -
@UDb23 - Thanks for the information. I'll do some testing when Stuart posts the cfgs or creates a repo as there's some nice additions I would install.
I welcome any new bezels and marquees you post. I have quite a good number of yours implemented and really enjoy them. :)
-
Sorry i haven't got round to setting up the github repo yet, but the .CFG files are the same as the ones as @UDb23 created , i Just used his template to create them.
-
@Stuart2773 @UDb23 - I tested the first two. They worked well but there seems to be one caveat. 1943 is a jpg and that didn't seem to work. Commando as a png which worked fine.
The resolution doesn't seem to matter as long as it's a 16:9 AR as both are different resolutions. 1920x1080 (Udb) vs. 1600x900 (Stuart). So the 1600x900 must upscale to fit 1920x1080. There's some slight distortion in game (especially noticeable with the writing) that's not present when viewing the overlay as a pic. I would guess from upscaling?
It's not a very good screenshot but here's one below with the overlay. Is it possible to get a screenshot of the overlay with the game within RetroPie? You have to get so far back with a smartphone and it's fairly dark.
-
The 1943 & Commando PNG images were too big too upload on here (a maximum of 1mb) so i uploaded them on on that tinypic site, im not sure why they have become JPG's or why the resolution has changed, the original files that i uploaded are both .PNG format & 1920x1080
ive re-uploaded the originals in the 1st post, let me know if theres any more issues:-
-
@Stuart2773 - Thank you, those fit perfect and look great. I look forward to once you get a repository or download source setup as there's several more I will be adding.
I receive positive responses to overlays from company. So I'll be showcasing your overlays too in the Upper Midwest.
The one game that I never really heard of is Donkey Kong Christmas Remix. What emulator does that run with?
-
Donkey Kong Christmas Remix runs on mame,
-
@Stuart2773 - Thanks. I played a game in browser they have setup. It's a nice variation. I did look through the MAME compatibility lists trying to locate it but no luck. Would you happen to know the ROM name and which emulator it specifically works in? I saw they had dkongx11 listed on the site but I couldn't find that ROM either.
-
-
@Stuart2773 - Ok, I see what they are doing now. Thanks for all your help and I look forward to "testing" it on a bigger screen. :)
-
@Stuart2773 - I did a bit of testing and the only emulator that has native support is lr-fbalpha within RetroPie. I don't have any of the newer ones like mame2014 or mame2016 loaded so they may work on those.
You would need to do some cleanup in the gamelist.xml due to RetroPie identifies
dkongx11
asDonkey Kong II - Jumpman Returns (V1.1) (Hack)
. It must have a ROM to database file lookup. But it does work OTB and runs well in lr-fbalpha.

new overlays added
Moon Cresta
Mat Mania
Monster Bash
Mad Planets
