Where’s my emulators?

I uploaded Roms to my retro pi and it’s not showing any emulators to click into on my Retro pie home screen I know they are on there as I uploaded a splash screen and applied it just fine and can see them on my computer under share roms.

I have a pi 3b using a 2.5 amp cord running retro pi 4.4 I just downloaded it from here. I transferred Rom files into the correct files folders In the pi over usb stick and then connected to it with my computer over WiFi as I thought the roms didn’t go in to my pi but I checked under they share rom option on my computer and they were already in my pi but still no menu to select the game counsel to play. No nes option or Sega etc.

Yeah restarted emu station then restarted system I even installed a jpg to use as a splash screen and applied it to make sure i wasn’t doing something wrong. Still no options to open the roms with just retro pi Config option.

@pi-mouse Can you give an example of ROM file you transferred - name of the file and for what emulator/system ? Can you show a screenshot with the nes system folder and the ROMs inside ?

How do you do that? I tried useing 7 zip to extract to folder but it doesn’t seem to have done much but make all the files I selected the exact same size. Also the roms I’m using are .exe files does that have anything to do with it?

@pi-mouse You need to download the exact rom extension files for the emulator you are trying to utilize. .Exe files are Windows executables files.

Well that explains why it’s not working. Sad fact is I spent 1:30+ downloading roms. So Noob question what file type do you need to use?

NES snes n64 gb gba gbc Atari Sega and maybe neogeo and psx but I’m mostly every other system above.

I don’t suppose there’s a download entire library for these systems is there?

@pi-mouse each of the documentation pages for those systems will tell you the permitted extensions. eg https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Nintendo-Entertainment-System

@pi-mouse You can download entire libraries (romsets), but that info is not discussed here in this forum. Google searching works best man. Just look up the systems your interested in and as dankcushions mentioned above, there are all kinds of wikis and other info available online. All the people of the Retropie world have great info out there available. The info will tell you what rom extensions for each emulator you need to run your games.

I’ve downloaded zip and 7 files rom files unzipped them put them in the nes file on pi and still no emulators.

@pi-mouse Can you show a listing of your NES folder ? Remember, you have to put the files themselves in the folder, without any sub-folders or funny extensions.

Also, the PI is case senstive as it runs Linux

So, NES is totally different from nes but on a Windows OS its the same folder name. Not on LINUX

This explains the systems currently supported by RetroPie. Bear in mind that some will never work on the PI version but are designed for the desktop version (like the WII). This should help you

I put a unzip .zip NES file under nes folder on my pi and still nothing. Do you have to manually download emulators onto retro pie after you install retro pi image on to the pi or something? I’m so confused why this isn’t work. Would reinstalling retro pie help?
