I'm trying to play Assault, and like many tank games it uses two joysticks. I can enter the MAME menu during the game and configure inputs for This Game, but it does not recognize any attempt to enter an analog stick as a digital input, unlike the PC version of MAME I am running. Is there a patch or something to get MAME 2003 to accept the analog sticks for digital inputs?

System Config: Retropie 4.4 with full desktop, RPi 3B, 256gb SD, 5v 2.1A 5,200 mAH USB battery. EasyMSX controller mounted with Pimoroni Hyperpixel 4 (non touch). Also running 4.6 on a 4gb Pi 4 serving as my primary desktop computer now.

@victimrlsh the first thing to note is that this game doesn’t support analog controls: it’s digital, just it has two sticks: https://github.com/libretro/mame2003-libretro/blob/a3e784fb5825c91af79a2e58f30ce18b3b60ac44/src/drivers/namcos2.c#L1334

in mame2003, a solution could be to enable this option: https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/lr-mame2003#dual-stick-games
