Swap 240 SSD for 1tb SSD: wont see 1tb? -Advice needed
-
Sorry to ask, but I cannot find anything posted that seems to help....I hope someone can advise, since I am out of ideas ...
I have a 240gb SSD successfully being used with retropie (I modified the ES-Systems.cfg)
What I did was purchase a 1tb ssd to replace the 240gb SSD.
Problem is that when I swap the drive and try to use the 1tb drive, Retropie does not mount it or see the drive.
The 1gb drive is formated identically to my 240gb SSD (using a single fat32 partition) and with the same file structure as my 240gb ssd, but retropie doesn't see it. I also attempted to format the 1tb drive as NTFS, but also same issue.
So, the 240SSD works but the 1tbSSD doesn't. (and yes, the 1tb SSD mounts fine in Windows)
Edit: I also attempted formatting the 1tb to EXT4 but same issue...Can someone provide feedback on how to get a larger SSD to be seen by my retropie?
Thanks!!!! Appreciate.

OK, I figured it out... if anyone is interested. It was a power issue all along. The 1tb SSD apparently uses more power than the 240gb SSD .
It was just a matter of using a usb adapter to power the 1tb SSD... Weird that the 1tb SSD draws more power than the 240... I assumed the power draw difference would be trivial between them. Apparently i was wrong. I have no idea if it is related to manufacturer. the 240 is a sandisk, while the 1tb is a PNY.
Looks like i will need seperate power supplies... Can anyone reccomend a better way to combine the seperate power sources into one?
