Controller Issue
-
after I updated to retropie 4.4.2 I am no longer able to use the start or select on my controller to quit games or to shut down my retropie i was wondering how would i fix this?
-
@drmyth Remap your controller again and see if this fixes it. Which version did you have before the upgrade ?
-
4.4 as it was a fresh install and I tried remapping but the start button issue was causing that attempt to fail too
-
Hm, are you sure your buttons are working correctly and there's not a problem with the controller itself ?
Please provide more info as requested in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first. -
the buttons are fine as it worked perfectly on the fresh install it only started to not work after updating to 4.4.2

@drmyth Please provide the info requested in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first in order to better diagnose your issue.

the model is a pi 3b it is using the 5.1V 2.5A official power supply was using retropie 4.4.2 image (updated from the 4.4 downloaded from the retropie site) I was using two different xbox 360 for windows controllers and I was testing the GBA emulator

Maybe the update overwrote the
xpad
driver used by your controller(s). Can you use the RetroPie-Setup script and re-install (from the drivers' section) thexpad
driver, then reboot ?
If that doesn't work or doesn't fix the issue, I'd still give it a go at remapping the controller. Since you can't use theStart
button in ES to reach the Input mapping menu, you can remove any controller mapping using the RetroPie-Setup script and going to Manage Packages -> Manage Core packages -> Emulationstation -> Configure / Options . You can choose to reset your controller configuration and then reboot the machine. Upon first boot, ES will ask you again to configure the controller. -
I will try that ASAP
