Emulation Station not reading .7z SNES ROMs
-
After hours of confusion I connected to Retropie via ethernet and discovered that all my ROMs had indeed copied to the SD card. However, the SNES emulator is not showing up on Emulation Station.
I am wondering if it has anything to do with the ROMs I am using. The extensions are all .7z
Do I need files of a different type to run SNES ROMs on Emulation Station?If anyone has any advice I will greatly appreciate it!

.7z is not supported, you will need to unpack or repack as .zip
Please don't mention places to download copyrighted software. https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/2/forum-rules

With SNES they have to be unzipped
if your using windows, 7zip would be the program you need

I am having the 7z issue now. How do you unpack/repack? I have tried windup, 7zip, WINRAR.....the 7z unpack ti many files but I can figure out how to repackage them for retro pie to except them.

@cecil. You dont have to rezip them. Just put the unzipped files on the pi

Why not do what I do, unless you are very short of space, I have all my ROMs unpacked so as to avoid any issues with emulators not reading compressed files
The only ROMs that are compressed are those explicitly needed such as MAME, FBA or NeoGeo
Al the rest are uncompressed

You can install the atool package which includes arepack. Then use this to convert the 7z files to zip.
$ arepack -e --format=zip *.7z
