      Hi folks,
I have downloaded and started playing Super Mario World - yet the game seems to start NOT at the start of the actual game.
It should have a green map at the very start of the game - but I have a red one and different levels.

      any ideas why this is?

      Thanks in advance,
      Matt

Maybe you downloaded a different ROM.

i'm starting to think I did.
it is also showing the levels as 'Holly's Island' instead of Yoshis island... WTF

I downloaded several 'versions' of the ROM but this is the only one that plays- others just have a black screen and I have tried selecting numerous snes emulators.

you wouldn't perhaps have this rom and know what emulator works and what rom file (and download URL) works?

@matpj Please read the forum rules - again. There's no rom sharing here in the forum - that's one of the forum rules.

              oops! sorry about that.
managed to figure it out though so now have the right ROM - although the game is ignoring my controller configuration for some reason.
do you know how I can get the game to use the configuration I chose (e.g. my B is mapped to X but the game is ignoring)

Use the Core input remapping options in RetroArch to re-map your button.
