Base Retropie on Ubuntu instead of Raspbian?

Do ever someone thought go base Retropie on a minimal Ubuntu installation, over Raspbian? Essenctially because upsting/upgrading versions in Ubuntu is more simple than Debian.
Other advsntsges/drawbacks?

No, it's not. Does Ubuntu provide a version for Raspberry PI which is easier and better supported than Raspbian ? RetroPie already supports Ubuntu - on the PC.
