SNES Start button not working, USB controller
-
Hi,
I'm struggling in configuring my controller - I went trough the setup, everything is fine. I set the hotkey as default & enabled. Configured the second controller without an hotkey. Mapped also Start & Select. They do both work in SNES - however, I can only use Select which ends in Bomberman 2 for example in "Pause". When I press Menu nothing happens. Hotkey is working, I can exit the game by menu & select so the button in general works but has no effect beside of the hotkey. Start from Controller #2 has no impact at all in the game!? How can I enter the menu to exit a round for example...?
Pi Model or other hardware: B+
Power Supply used: Original
RetroPie Version Used (eg 3.6, 3.8.1, 4.1 - do not write latest): 4.4
Built From: Pre made image
USB Devices connected: no
Controller used: 2 SNES gamepads from China without Brand, detected as USB Controller -
@kamban Have you chosen
Select
as the Hotkey ? This might have erased theSelect
button mapping for that particular controller. -
Yes I did. But only for Controller 1, not for the second one.
However - how should I configure them? I don't want to lose the hotkey but on the hand I don't have so much buttons!? Just the original SNES buttons...?

Does start button work on Controller 1?
I had something similar to this happen once with 2 snes controllers.
I erased the configuration so I could start fresh and then plugged both snes controllers in and configured controller 1 and did it again with controller 2 and that solved the issue for me.
This may be a different issue but if the second controller is acting up it could be that the system is not seeing its buttons the same way as controller 1.

@kamban Configure both controllers the same: skip the hotkey assignment (long press A or B), then at the end you'll be asked if you want to use
Select
as hotkey. Choose yes andSelect
will be both the hotkey and theSelect
button.
Note that the 2nd player will not have access to the RGUI and depending on the game, it's the 1st player that starts the game. But you can test this out if you're just unplugging one of the controllers and see how player 1 behave on the remaining controller. -

Did that. Before I erased the config from the GUI by entering the config, EmulationStation and the reset the controllers. Reboot, did the setup as advised but still the same: Menu has no effect. But Select & Menu will exit the game. Select alone does nothing at all (on both controllers...).

@kamban Can you try to remap one of your controller from RetroArch - does
Select + X
bring up the RetroArch Gui ? -

Auto: 8 (N/A), (Key:rs... Selectas well as the other mapped keys. Also tried another SNES rom, same here. I really have no idea why the select is not working...
