      My setup:

      • ODroid XU4
      • RetroPie 4.3.8 ORA edition (for the ODroid)
      • iPac Ultimate with the spinner, trackball, 3 joysticks (two linked), 20 buttons
      • 15 amp power supply
      • lr-mame (truck; I believe it's 0.191)

I now have nvram being saved. I'd like the autosave to work, so that the memory state itself is saved. The autosave feature is supposed to do this, and load it back upon start. It's not. When I start any rom, I get "Error: failed to open file for load operation".

I've put the full debug runcommand.log here. The relevant output is:
[INFO] Redirecting save file to "/home/pigaming/RetroPie/roms/mame-libretro/joust.srm". [INFO] Redirecting savestate to "/home/pigaming/RetroPie/roms/mame-libretro/joust.state".
      and
[INFO] Environ GET_VARIABLE mame_auto_save: [INFO] enabled

But neither of these files ever gets created. For any rom.

      Any pointers would be appreciated.

      Thanks.

@treaves “pigaming” is a new directory to me. it sounds like this is something changed within the ORA image. you may have better luck asking them for support - we only support our own images.

@treaves said in mame not saving state:

          mame_auto_save

Searching for this setting yield only this issue on Github - https://github.com/libretro/RetroArch/issues/4820 - which seems to suggest that the setting does nothing and it's not implemented in the mame core.

Have you tried using save states (.stateX files) ? Does it work ?
