Hi, i was very pleased to find that the default psx emulator runs both descent games perfectly. Actually a lot better than the original hardware. But sadly the emulator does not support the dual-stick (wikipedia link).

I have tried both the standard, and analog controller option in retroarch.
As a side note: I have tested the original game on original hardware and i can confirm that dual shock(1 and 2) controllers will not be accepted as a analog joystick in the games.

I'm really not shure if this is the correct place to ask, but...
Can anyone please add the support for this controller?

PS: Mechwarrior 2 and some flight games also supports this controller.

yeah, the emulators can broadly only support what the original games did. if your game does not have analog support, we can't add it (other than an making the analog stick provide digital output - eg https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/5609/use-analogue-as-digital-controls)

I think i have to be a bit more precise.

The PlayStation Analog Joystick (SCPH-1110) is not just a fanzy analog controller / dual shock. It's in fact a whole different thing.

By connectiong the SCPH-1110 controller to the playstation and booting games like descent 1 and 2 - the game allows for complete custom controll mapping and real analog controll on 4 axes of your choise.

So. The games does have analog support, but ONLY with the SCPH-1110.

Can you please add support for the SCPH-1110 in the emulator?

@mesusah oh I see - yeah in this case I think it's unlikely it gets added as we/no-one is really maintaining the emulator. you could try requesting it at https://github.com/libretro/pcsx_rearmed/issues

After som quick reading in the source file over at github i found that the SCPH-1110 is a part of the selectable controller types.
Could it be that the retroarch developers just forgot to implement the option in the gui?

ohh, I didn't knew descent supported that rare analog pad.
I poked around and managed to add the option to use that analog pad in the menu, it works wonders.
I just created a pull request with the fix. now it should be a matter of time for the option appear if they accept my fix.
