I loaded a premade Image and decided to add some DOS games in /roms/pc/GAMENAME/

Pi Model or other hardware: 3B+
Power Supply used: Official 2.5A Powersupply
RetroPie Version Used: 4.4 Built From: (Pre made SD Image all killer no filler 32gb)

When they didn't show up I changed a setting in the start menu: Parse game lists only to OFF. I thought this way all directories get scanned, not just xml lists.

But after a reboot I got this error message: killed

I was able to access the Pi via SSH. I located the es_settings.cfg, changed parse_game_lists_only back to True.
      Now I can boot again.

So, what does this mean? The image creator took steps to prevent users from adding additional systems/games?
Is there a way I can enable this setting, parse all systems/games, and still boot normally?

We don't offer support for 3rd party images - wasn't this obvious already from the https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first page ?
