      I just got Retropie up and running but I cant seem to get the "Select + Start" command for exiting games to work, how do I fix this? I'm not a big computer person either so if it could be kept as simple as possible I'd greatly appreciate it as I only got the thing so that I could free up space in my small small apartment.

        I believe it defaults to Select+Start+A+B? Or did you change the default?

          I don't know, I don't think I did. I thought it was just start + select to exit.

                    @Jedidaleke

                    If you have done the above steps please add the following relevant information so that we can help narrow down the cause of your issue:

                    You never specified the version of pi, what emulator you are using, what controller you have, relevant logs or any other bit of useful information that might actually be useful for others to provide you with assistance.

                      ohhhh ok, sorry, I have a Raspberry pi 3, i'm running an official snes controller with a usb adapter, (although I'm trying the "start + select thing with a usb keyboard as well and it dosen't work there either) and the default emulators on the retro pie.

                      ...other then that I don't know because i just simply boot up a game and try to hold down the buttons for the command and it wont let me out ....I'm also running the latest version of retro Pi

                            @Jedidaleke perhaps you should do a bit of googling on the basic of the terminal and linux command line. there are a few example commands here https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/ssh but there are plenty of other guides online.

                            you can do cat /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch-joypads/<yourcontroller.cfg> and that should show you what was configured when you configured your controller through emulationstation
