RetroPie CoinOperator & Timer

I have already searched the web and found some information but I am in need of someone who has knowledge about circuit boards.
I have got the RetroPie setup and running, everything works fine. We have also built an arcade ourselves (photo attached). We now want to make it as authentic as we can and install a CoinOperator.
Note: I have already searched the web and I am very aware that I am neither the owner of RetroPie nor of the Roms. The CoinOperator will be programmed to be accepting 'tokens' that will be issued for free. We are solely interested in the authenticity.
Due to the fact that only arcade games running on MAME have been programmed to be coin operated, we had trouble finding a way to restrict the SNES, GBC, etc... with the coin operator.
We found another way of using the CoinOperator. The plan is to link this CoinOperator to a Timer Circuitboard, which sits between the Joystick and the RetroPie. The idea is to be unable to use the Joystick unless the Timer gives way to the RetroPie.
The following set is what I am planning to use:
I have read the instructions provided on the website but I am still uncertain, whether this Timer will suit my plan. Is my assumption right, that the two USB ports on the left(or right) would be the ones where I plug the joystick's usb and the other ones would be connected to the RetroPie. And then, only if the time is allowing a flow (due to a coin insertion), the joystick will be connected to the Pie?
I hope someone here can help me. And also that everything is clear, otherwise please let me know if there is more need for explanation. Unfortunately english is not my mother tongue.
