I am having no luck using a GameStick controller. The bluetooth setup script recognizes it and connects, but the controller input setup only recognizes it (as a keyboard) if I press the > button in the middle. It does not recognize any other buttons as input.

Has anyone else been able to use one of these controllers? What can I be missing?

I also attempted to connect a PS3 controller, but after plugging it in to charge and running the setup for it, the original controller does not light up at all, I am hoping this is unrelated. I tried plugging it into a windows PC and it attempted to install drivers but then may have become disconnected or something, the lights still do not turn on.

I did have the issue with bluetooth setup freezing but I might try a complete fresh install but I have never been able to get the GameStick controller working. I have tried every version since the RPI3 came out. I keep hoping that an update will cure any issues but I am still at a loss.

      Pi Model: 3
      RetroPie Version Used: 3.8.1
Built From: SD Image, (Binary install)
      USB Devices connected: none
      Controller used: GameStick
      Error messages received: None

Has anyone been able to use a gamestick controller running retropie? It seems it should be possible Am I missing something to do with a mode? I don't know if there are different modes on this specific controller but do I need to change something in the bluetooth configuration?

Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

No experience with the GameStick unfortunately, but in relation to this:

You cannot currently use the PS3 controller drivers and the normal bluetooth stack at the same time, so that may be why the GameStick no longer connects after trying the PS3 controller.

@BuZz said in Retropie 3.8 Bluetooth Configure Issue:

you cant use ps3controllers and the built in bluetooth stack at the same time currently. Known limitation of the ps3 pairing software.
