I tried using .pbp roms for multidisk PS1 games. However, they do not seem to launch.

This is the content my runcommand.log

      pi@retropie /etc/emulationstation $ cat /dev/shm/runcommand.log
      Parameters:
      Executing: /opt/retropie/emulators/retroarch/bin/retroarch -L /opt/retropie/libretrocores/lr-pcsx-rearmed/libretro.so --config /opt/retropie/configs/psx/retroarch.cfg "/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/psx/Final Fantasy VIII.pbp" --appendconfig /dev/shm/retroarch.cfg
      Starting PCSX-ReARMed
      Running PCSX Version 1.9 (Aug 2 2017).
psxMap: warning: wanted to map @80000000, got 0x741bb000

      Plugins loaded.
      Loaded CD Image: /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/psx/Final Fantasy VIII.pbpbad psar_sig: rMIc-`
      .
      selected sound output driver: libretro
      unsupported/invalid CD image: /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/psx/Final Fantasy VIII.pbp

I tried with 3 different games with exactly the same error (that weird "bad psar_sig: ") and the "unsupported/invalid CD image".

What could be the cause? All other games (in bin/cue or iso format) work perfectly.

Looks like a bad ROM file - did you create the files yourself ?

No. I got pbp files for the PSP. I noticed that one game (Chrono Trigger) worked, so there may be some incompatibility issues between PSP and the roms that Retropie admits.

Anyway, I found that using a m3u playlist for multi-disk games is simpler.

@xwons bad rom. All the us pbp roms i got work just fine. However final fantasy viii has to be done the way you did it because it is one of two games that have a disc switching problem as a .pbp.

              Thanks. That's probably it.
