Running RetroPie From Raspbian Stretch & Encrypted ROM USB Flash?
-
Hi,
I want to run RetroPie from within Raspbian Stretch on Raspberry Pi 3b device.
I currently boot into Rapbian Stretch desktop and RetroPie is installed.
How would I run RetroPie while in Raspbian Stretch desktop? Also, I have a LUKS encrypted 64GB USB flash drive with all my ROM files.
How would I use the encrypted USB flash drive from within RetroPie?Let me know, thanks!

You can't run both at the same time - https://retropie.org.uk/docs/FAQ/#where-did-the-desktop-go. The Emulationstation frontend and the emulators distributed for the Pi are not going to work from an X.org session.
Also, I have a LUKS encrypted 64GB USB flash drive with all my ROM files.
How would I use the encrypted USB flash drive from within RetroPie?Take a look at https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Running-ROMs-from-a-USB-drive/#manual-mount. Minus the encryption part, you can use the manual mounting procedure to see how you can use an USB drive to run the ROMs.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply...
How would I switch between Raspbian and RetroPie when I first turn on the Raspberry Pi 3b?
(kind of like dual boot Windows/Linux on a desktop)Thanks!

Did you read the link to the docs ? You can start the desktop environment from RetroPie or choose which one to start by configuring the
autostart.sh
script. -
Hi,
I looked through the docs you supplied...
I installed Raspbian Stretch OS 1st on my Raspberry Pi 3b
then I installed RetroPie from within Rasbian Stretch.
Is the above supported?
(I would like to use both Raspbian Stretch and RetroPie)
Thanks!Jesse

Yes, it's supported - you just can't run the RetroPie from the desktop, that's all.
