Best portable game kit

What is the best kit to easily put together a handheld system? I've seen a nice hat for the Pi. That seems nice and easy. I don't have any of the electrical equipment anymore to put together the individual parts of something like the PiGrl. Any thoughts?

Thank you so much! That is exactly what I need.

@Jeck11 coolbaby rs-97 costs only 40usd
-
@cyperghost I wouldn't recommend scammer products. Plus, it looks horrible with what looks like some Android version (?).
-
@mitu scammer? It is a clone of the dingoo a320
It looks awful but the firmware is easily exchangeableAndroid? No way the CPU is not very powerful. Would be impressed if it would run android ;) I think you are on the wrong track

When it comes packed with umpteen unlicensed games I call it a scam. Does it run RetroPie ?
-
I was always thinking about something like this but in "easy" and cheaper. Like would it be possible to cut a PS3 controller in half and cannect both pieces with wires? If so.. I would only need a case that could contain the Pi 3B+, Screen and some sort of power and maybe a switch on the USB cable that goes from the controller to the Pi...
-
@Cederick It's already done - https://www.jonathanhellman.se/create-hanheld-retropie/
-
@mitu Not really.. Since the controller he uses has input lag and problems with multiple button inputs at once. So not at all.
Also it's a really messy version of portable and bluetooth will ruin your battery life much faster then wired use + you would never have the problem of an empty battery on the controller while the Pi could still work. -
@mitu That depends on the seller. I owned 2 of these devices. One with a 4gb SD the other with 16gb. The 4gb variant was barely free of any ROMs. The 16gb was full loaded. But most were Chinese titles I can't understand. So yes your definition of scam is right.
But the stock firmware is awful so it is better to use a firmware from free developers then the device is really useable and scam free. So I stand to my opinion the rs-97 are very good handhelds for a reasonable fair costs.
Does it run Retropie
No so it is not related to this forum. But also does not violate any Retropie terms. Someone installed python on this device and made a frontend that looks like ES but it is not RetroPie

I meant - does it run Linux ? What are the specs - all links point to the latest RetroCraze 3000games chinese sites.
-
@mitu yes it runs Linux. I think it is called dingux but really do not know any deeper specs. It is not a libretro core installed so every emulator gots it's unique key layout. As I said it is a clone of the A320 device
I do not have any link to pointing to this side you mentioned. Yandex and Google are pointing to YouTube videos at first ;)
I think you are on a wrong track - if I may be wrong then please take my excuse serious. But for now I am going to deep sleep mode ;)

I was just being curious if there's more to it than a simple gimmick.
