Problem with Aimtrak in Retropie

Hello everybody.

I would like to use the aimtrak gun with advmame 1.4 in mame lightgun games with retropie. I have found videos on youtube for the installation, i followed them, and set correctly everything. Gunconf in retropie is installed. The gun is recognized. The calibration is also good. I start the game with advmame 1.4. In the game I have set the buttons of the gun. To start the game and shoot, goes. Only aiming in the game is not possible. The crosshair stays in the middle. I can not move it. Can someone help me to solve this problem?

There's some detailed setup info in https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Spinners,-Trackballs,-Lightguns,-and-other-Mouse-Devices/, did you try the steps in the docs ? Which version of AdvMame are you using and which game are you trying out ?

Please also add the information requested in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.

First, I would like to say that I do not have a trackball or spinner. I only have the aimtrak gun "without recoil" and the associated lightbar.

Because I do not know that much, I installed the whole via retropie toolkit. there is a pre-programmed command for the aimtrak, where you click once and run on retropie.

I've tried 3 games: lethal enforcers II, alien 3 and duckhunter. all games tested with advmame 1.4. everywhere the same. shoot goes. the buttons work all. I can not control the aiming "crosshair". But this works with gunconf, which I have also installed on retropy for the calibration.

As said in the doc - for RetroPie is just a mouse, just like a trackball or spinner.

3rd party images are not supported here, did you install your image from the RetroPie site or from another image ? Do you have a link to the script that configures the lightgun ?

@mitu Just stumbled over this thread because I am a proud owner of two Aimtrak lightguns since last saturday, and I'm searching for any information about their setup. :)

Following the links from the video's description, I found the github page of the script in question:

It seems like it modifies an existing Retropie installation and adds some functionality the author deemed to be useful. I didn't dive deeper into it, because I prefer to use Retropie's own tools as long as they get the job done as well.

Getting my Aimtraks to work with any kind of MAME is my next goal, but at present I can't help much further.
