FS-UAE request to build from source or install from dev PPA
-
Hi,
I use FS-UAE on x86 but currently it installs v2.8.4 stable from the developers stable PPA (https://launchpad.net/~fengestad/+archive/ubuntu/stable).
There are quite a few fixes and enhancements in the development version, and I think this is ok for general use. The changes are as follows:
https://fs-uae.net/category/development-releasesThe PPA for this is here:
https://launchpad.net/~fengestad/+archive/ubuntu/develOr, to build directly from source:
https://github.com/FrodeSolheim/fs-uae@BuZz for the installer script, would you consider either:
A) Adding a second 'build from source' option to the fs-uae.sh script, so that if installed from binary, it pulls from the stable PPA (as is), but if built from source, it builds from github directly to get the very latest version.
or B) Simply changing the 'install from binary' so it points to the Dev PPA to get the latest version released back in May, rather than the stable PPA which points to a 3+ years old version.
I think the newer dev binaries would potentially be more stable to use than v2.8.4. If you prefer me to open an issue on Github for this as an enhancement, let me know.
What do you think?
Cheers

PS. BTW, the Debian install links from opensuse.org appear to be broken on the .sh script as there is only a folder for Debian 9.0 now - Debian 8.0 isn't there anymore.
