I had a plan to buy a ps2, mod it and use it as a case. I bought a PS2 controller to usb for the genuine feel. I also bought a wireless PS2 controller. I thought I has everything all right untill I tried to configure the controllers.
I plugged everything in all right, entered the RetroPie controller configeration screen, pressed the buttons I was told to press, then I ran into a problem. The Cross, Square, Circle, and Analog buttons were not working. No matter hom many times I pressed, nope. I was about to put them back in their box to return them, but thought about connecting them to my computer to test them. I plugged them in, went to control panel, properties, and I did the thing that tests all the buttons. Every single button worked! I tried connecting them to my Raspberry Pi 3B+ again but RetroPie still did not respond to them. It shows up as Playstation (R) 3 Controller.
Is there a way I can configure it manually from the code? Is there a way I can make it read the buttons? I tried and searched Google a million times but nothing seemed to correspond with my problem.

The controllers and controller to usb are: (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07G5CKRFQ?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf) and (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075VSDF8M?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf)

@DrGhoulsss Please add more details about your system as requested in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.
Check if your controllers' buttons are registering with jstest, as described in the docs, maybe they're not and that's why Emulationstation doesn't notice they're pressed.

My Pi model is 3B+, I am using a canakit as my power supply. I am using the latest version of RetroPie but I am not sure which one it is and don’t know how to check. I built it from a premade image I found on RetroPie The USB devices coonected are the ps2 controller to usb and keyboard. I also use a Xbox One controller via Bluetooth. I do not recieve any Error Messages.

@DrGhoulsss whenever using playstation 1/2 controllers only the dpad will work until you push the analog button. Once that lights up all of the buttons work.

Everything else works, just not those buttons.

You mean if you use jstest to test them ?

@mitu I still haven’t tested them, I said that because it says in the describe your pi thing to say if you get any error messeges. I am going to test them after I finish this Doctor Who episode.

@DrGhoulsss did you turn the analog button on and resetup the controller? Those buttons wont work on the pi if you dont turn the analog button on.

I tried doing the JSTEST, it detected it alright. But it still does not detect the buttons. It says 13 buttons detected but has four nulls in the end if the list which i think represent the nonfunctional buttons. The driver version is 2.1.0, is there a new one and how do i install it?0_1542835782198_48724714-04F0-45ED-9B52-1B74B2C05B8A.jpeg
