      I'm trying to switch from the default N64 emu to the "lr-mupen64plus" core to get better control over controller schemes for different games.
      On Goldeneye/Perfect Dark when I move forward or backward, the camera moves up and down at the same time, so you end up staring at your feet when you walk forward...

      I found some mention of the problem here and it implies there is a config somewhere which the left stick is imitating the D-pad.

      I've had a look at my config via the retroarch and it looks like:
      Webp.net-resizeimage.png

      I can't seem to work out why its mapped together.

      Anyone got any ideas?

        I think I worked it out. A year or so ago when I originally set up my retropie I was focussing on PSX emulation, and in the "autoconfig" controller mappings I must have force mapped this:

        input_up_axis                 = "-1"
        input_down_axis               = "+1"
        input_left_axis               = "-0"
        input_right_axis              = "+0"
        

        Removing these seems to have done the trick
