I'm trying to switch from the default N64 emu to the "lr-mupen64plus" core to get better control over controller schemes for different games.
On Goldeneye/Perfect Dark when I move forward or backward, the camera moves up and down at the same time, so you end up staring at your feet when you walk forward...I found some mention of the problem here and it implies there is a config somewhere which the left stick is imitating the D-pad.
I've had a look at my config via the retroarch and it looks like:
I can't seem to work out why its mapped together.
Anyone got any ideas?

I think I worked it out. A year or so ago when I originally set up my retropie I was focussing on PSX emulation, and in the "autoconfig" controller mappings I must have force mapped this:
input_up_axis = "-1" input_down_axis = "+1" input_left_axis = "-0" input_right_axis = "+0"
Removing these seems to have done the trick
