Retropie version number
-
Is there a way to see the version number of Retropie? I issued the update all via the menu, it showed it was downloading stuff, but then when I came back it was sitting at the menu again. I don't know if it did anything. I've found the commit hash but that's it.

There is some info here:
https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Updating-RetroPieThe versions of RetroPie, i.e 3.8 are a snapshot of the project at that point in time (including binaries, scripts etc.).
You can update the RetroPie script at any point though as shown in the link above. -
@Floob - Yeah. That's the site I used to do the update. I was just trying to find out if it worked since I walked away and didn't come back to any sort of "upgrade successful" message.
-
@Jeck11 Isn't the script version shown at the top of the window in the setup script? You can see it in the first screenshot in the link Floob posted.
-
@Charco - The script version is. I updated that as well right before I ran the other update. It's showing as:
4.0-dev last commit 2 days ago (ac779db)I got a successful message after updating the script. I just didn't get anything after running the "Update all installed packages".
-
They just bumped up the version of the script to 4.0-beta1
-
@Jeck11 if it ran successfully, you're updated. Version numbers mean nothing as every part of RetroPie is in constant development.

OK thanks @herb_fargus
