Cant boot retropie

Just recently put retropie on sd card but when i put it in the raspberry pi it loads to a screen that says "Could not expand filesytem, please try raspi-config or rc_gui.
Boot and root partitions are on different devices". What does this mean and what can I do if anything?? -
