![So been interested in building a arcade cabinet, but decided to get my feet wet by modding an Arcade 1UP Street Fighter cabinet. This is perfect size, as want to bring to family parties. The Arcade 1UP is easy to move around and transport.

Bought the cabinet on sale for $200 and looked a videos to get the parts needed, including speaker amp, joysticks, and buttons. But then after playing, decided I wanted to add a spinner and trackball because my favorite games use these controls.

For spinner added a TurboTwist 2 with Energy Storage Cylinder and added another hole to left of Player 1 button (actually, I had added the Coin button to the left and right of player 1 and player 2, but when I decided to add the spinner, moved the coin buttons, but the hole I put next to player one was good spot to put spinner in.)

For trackball, needed a small 2 1/4" trackball so I bought Arcade Trackball Mouse with PS/2 connector and PS/2 to USB convertor. Put the trackball where the speaker was, as was only place to put with room to use the trackball. Had to use a Dremal router tip to make hole in the wood where the speaker was to place the trackball. Once installed, plugged up and works well. I understand from some people that this type of mouse may cause latency, as converting from PS/2 to USB, but I have not noticed any latancy thus far.

Also had a Powerblock from a previous project was working on, so added that to utilize the power on/off button.

The mistakes I made was putting the coin buttons on top to begin with. This was before I decided to put in spinner and trackball, so have a button next to player 2 that is not functional for now. Think of making this button active the MAME UI when in a game.

Also the coin buttons are the bottom panel are a little low. Was originally going to put closer to the top, but the left coin button was too high and hitting the other player 2 buttons so had to flip the panel to the coin buttons were lower.

Only thing remaining is to relocate the speaker, which I plan on putting on the marque to the right and cable management in the cabinent.

So far, I am very happy with the results. The control panel is small and had to fit everything on it, but all controls are reachable and can use .

Hey im doing something similar and I am having issues with setting up the track ball. as it looks like you picked up the same amazon special one I did may I ask what ps/2 to usb adaptor you ended up using? the one I first picked up (perixx something or other) doesn't play nice with mame 2003 or 2010.

        anyway looks good

Do you have knuckles left after using that trackball? Looks so close to the screen.

Any plans in the future to put a plexi cover over top of the control panel ? There are reports of the wear and tear of the graphics overtime from use. Great build with the trackball and spinner. I myself wouldn't have bought an Arcade1up myself. Arcade1up is rumored to be in the process/planning for a V2 of the build. Fix all their mistakes they made from V1 from input of the customer base that purchased them and have had problems with them. They are even sending out free plexi to customers to cover the control panel. Look into it maybe and you can mod the plexi for your setup.

@noproblem1234 Here is the one I purchased from Amazon:

Have not had any issues so far.

@HurricaneFan That was my concern when I installed it, but surprisingly, not an issue. I have played Centipede, Crystal Castle, and some bowling games and so far it no issues. I want to get Golden Tee on here as well and that may cause some issue, as tend to use the trackball hard when going up, but with bowling I do the same and takes a little adjustment, but works well, IMHO.

Thanks for the link, that adaptor seems to work fine my track ball

fyi for others. right now the one in the following link seems to have issues with retropie: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B008DFVQFW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Again this might be fixable in software later on, or it might be that I got a dud I don't know, but if your track ball seems to work with windows but not retropie you may not be totally crazy

                                      @StarsIntoDreams Here is the trackball:
                                      https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075JH3S54/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

                                      Will also need this adaptor:
                                      https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IACID2C/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_detailpage_o07_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

If you do this, make sure you buy the adaptor above. Some adaptors will not work.
