Im using Retropie and i did the xboxdrv, still doesnt work. in lsusb "Bus 001 Device 004: ID 045e:02e6 Microsoft Corp." already tried to reboot, update the packages and everything.
sorry if this is a noob question, but im still learning... thank you, and sorry if this is the wrong place to submit this post

Hey there. Just stopped by to see what was on the forums and saw that I can actually reply to this.

I went looking around for possible help for making the Xbone wireless dongle work with my steam link. Compatibility with it is something that many people would like, obviously. I found a link with an explanation why it doesn't work under linux/steamOS, and you're gonna hate me for this part, but I can't find that link again.

Basically some person said that it's not a standard input device. It actually shows up as a networking device to windows and the physical dongle has a wifi chip in it. That's what's making it hard for people to make drivers for it.

The explanation IS in the steam forums, however. If you do some digging I'm sure you can find it.

@Hanks The Xbox One wireless adapter uses 5v 500mA, so the Pi wont power it. You have to use a Y-cable that powers external portable hard drives to give it the power it needs and the ability to connect it to the USB on the Pi.

            Amazon example: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DZQEIJE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I have purchased the above adapter and can finally get the wireless adapter to power on, but when it is attached to the pi the controller will not connect to the wireless adapter. Any thoughts?
