Hello! After successfully setting up a B+ for Christmas, I decided to install emulation station on my PC too. The setup went fine, the emulator let me configure my gamepad (trustmaster 3.2 analog) but the pad does not work in Game.

This is what I have done:

Launched the game (eg. Metal slug in FBA), entered the retroarch menu and configured the controller. I also tried to change the driver, but I had no success at all.

There are some topics around with the same issue, but they are not related to the PC version.

@brand Configuring the gamepad in Emulationstation would also configure the gamepad in RetroArch - did you configure the gamepad in Emulationstation first ?

@mitu yes! :) I configured the pad as soon as emulationstation started. Then, as suggested by some other users who had this issue, I launched an emulator, then went in the retroarch menu and configured the pad again to verify it was working. I can clearly see that there is my pad assigned to player one.

After quitting retroarch and restarting the game, no chance to insert coin with select. I could just open the retroarch menu by pressing start+select on the pad or F1 on the keyboard.

What is even stranger is that as soon as I launch an emulator, in the left corner I can read in yellow "trustmaster analog 3.2 blablabla not configured".

It means the auto-configuration done by Emulationstation for RetroArch is not applied. Normally it shouldn't be needed to configure the controller again in RetroArch.
What I would do is check /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch-joypads for the configuration file(s) and delete them, then re-configure again the gamepad in ES. This should generate a .cfg file in the aforementioned folder - start RetroArch and see if the controller is not configured.

If you wish to re-map some of the buttons, then use the Core input remapping option in the RetroArch GUI, it should be enough.

@mitu is the retropie folder present in the PC version of the emulator, too?

Inside the ES menu I see no retropie entry.

Anyway, in a couple of hours I'll give this a try :)

There should be an entry - unless you deleted the retropiemenu system. But the /opt/retropie folder should be there, regardless of the installation type.

@mitu it's a preconfigured pack. No retropie folder whatsoever :(

@mitu problem solved! Saving the core config was the game changer. I still get the "controller not configured" message, but now it works :)
