        It's because of a change of TGDB (scraping site) - read more details here https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/20613/. The version supported here though is the one maintained for the RetroPie project and it's not the one from emulationstation.org.

                @vetorndh Since you're a Windows user, I'd recommend using Skraper or the Universal XML Scraper. They're pretty good external scrapers that can download the images and retrieve the info associated with your ROMs.

                  @mitu I'm using Skraper and I'm putting the images manually, why can not I create an .xml file
